Don’t forget that we have a FREE screening this coming weekend at the Institute of Modern Art, 3pm Saturday 20th August.
Attendees will be treated to three startling works that draw on game- and role-play to explore notions of authenticity and nostalgia: Jon Rafman and Daniel Lopatin‘s Sticky Drama, which portrays the development of a role-playing game set in a fantastical and violent world in which its participants struggle to preserve their memory and past histories; Peter Burr‘s The Mess, a Stalker-inspired journey to the threshold of a utopian labyrinth; and Gabriel Abrantes and Ben Rivers‘ The Hunchback, a delirious sci-fi riff on Arabian Nights’ ‘Tale of the Hunchback’ which explores a technological dystopia reigned by Dalaya.com, a mega-corporation that forces its employees to ‘relax’ at company-run medieval reenactments.
