Peter Strickland | United Kingdom 2018, 118 minutes | 9pm, 13 March
Peter Strickland’s fourth feature is a horror story about, yes, a garment, but it’s his most engrossing work yet.
– Glenn Kenny, The New York Times
Two worlds nestle amidst one another: the intoxicating antiquarian realm of Dentley & Sopers Trusted Department Store, and the everyday of period London. Travelling between them, sold on by a strangely prolix shop assistant (Sidse Babett Knudsen), is a haunted red dress, passing from person to person, customer to customer, with devastating results. Both comic and horror, Strickland’s giddy In Fabric picks at the spectacle of fashion and the fantasy of consumerism, as if they were the rituals of a witchy cabal.
