It is with great pleasure that we announce the opening night film of QFF2016 will be Pedro Almodóvar’s Julieta.
Julieta is a landmark film for its maker—his 20th feature—and a landmark film for QFF: there is no more evocative name among working filmmakers in world cinema than Almodóvar’s.
The auteur of films including Talk to Her (2002), Bad Education (2004), and Volver (2006), Almodóvar is known for his structurally and morally complex narratives, his use of colour, his concern for the lives of women, and his characters consumed by boundless passions.
Julieta is an opening gala screening. Drinks and canapés will be served on arrival.
