We’ve been loving going through the lineups of this year’s Sundance, Rotterdam and Berlin festivals. This year’s Berlinale in particular has been a stunner with key premieres from both new and legendary directors like Ruth Beckermann, Bertrand Bonello, Denis Côté, Claire Denis, Alain Guiraudie, Hong Sang-soo, Jorge Jacome, Ulrich Seidl, and Peter Strickland amongst others. The turnaround for the Berlinale since the appointment of Carlo Chatrian as artistic director has been incredible, and a credit to what somebody with a particular vision can do.
Hopefully we can sneak a title or two into our forthcoming series, but we’re also delighted to see that Claire Denis’s Fire has already made it into this year’s Alliance Française French Film Festival in March. (Even if we preferred its original title Both Sides of the Blade.)
